If You Would Like to Hear This Record

Because of various problems with public blogs and rights problems, I have decided to take my blog and convert it to a private email. If you’d like to listen to this album (and more) or any other album I am posting here, just send me your email address at radiovickers1@gmail.com and I will put you on my list. Along with this album, I have a gigantic archive of my vinyl digitizations that gets added to every week. I do them myself and de-click them. Most sound pretty darned good, if I do say so myself.
This is not some come on. Just caution on my part. It costs nothing and there’s nothing to join. Just an email address. I have about a hundred people on my list at the moment. Come and join the musical fun.

My Vinyl Attic - Louis Prima & Keely Smith - Together (1960)

If you’d like to listen to this album or any other album I am posting here, just send me your email address at radiovickers1@gmail.com and I will put you on my list.

I can't believe how this cleaned up.  There's a slight bit of sibilance here and there but before I de-clicked it and took the service noise out, it was a mess.  I was despairing.  I did have to exchange track 7 for another source.  There was some real weird distortion on it.  The rest is all good though.  The songs are a lot of fun.

The vinyl sounds terrific.  I'm stunned how well this cleaned up.  You have to be in the mood for this kind of stuff, but it you are, it's exceedingly enjoyable.  If this appeal to you, I believe there's a CD of it out now.

The vinyl sounds good - more like really good.  It needed some serious de-clicking, but it came out nicely.  It's a shame these albums aren't out on CD.

The vinyl sounds great which is amazing.  This was very clicky.  When I initially digitized the Lp back around 2000, it took me all day to get the clicks out and it still sounded only okay.  My de-clicking program took them out in 30 seconds and I don't hear any distortion or music loss.  I'm in love.  The music is great.  I love this album.  Mendelson Joe (then Joe Mendelson) is at his eccentric best. Plus it has the hit on it!

The album was in good shape.  I bought this new a million years ago and almost never played it.  The songs are up and down but it definitely has highlights.  A number of the songs blend into on another and I did not attempt to separate them.  If there was silence, then I did make a separate track.

The album is in very good shape.  I think I hear a couple of tiny clicks with the headphones on.  I could go back and take them out but they are tiny.  The music is a little folky/proggy?  Not exactly catchy.

The vinyl is good.  There are a few tiny imperfections that bother me but overall, it stands up well, considering it's a Mercury black label.  Some weird stuff going on between tracks that I cleaned up pretty well.

Considering the age of this vinyl, it sounds great.  Alas, there is a weird little noise near the end of the last track.  The rest of it is pretty darned good, but things like that bug me.  It did have some weird high pitched something between tracks but I managed to get it out. (I think) The songs are nice.

The vinyl here is mostly excellent.  The music isn't really my cup of tea but they do it with style.  I found I spend most of my time ogling some of the girls on the cover.  Probably not what they had in mind.

The record brags all over the place about the vinyl and audio quality of the record - so naturally it's on the shittiest vinyl you can imagine.  It's practically cardboard.  That being said, most of the record sounds really good.  The exceptions are the last songs on both sides. (numbers 6 & 12) At the end of these songs, it sounds like armies have marched on the grooves.  I tried taking out the distortion but it took out almost all the music as well.  I've had other Coronet albums and they're all shit.  I love the cover though.  That, they got right.

The vinyl sounds really good.  I don't hear any real problems.  The de-clicking worked a charm.  The music is what you'd expect.  Pretty harmonies and catchy pop songs.

I wondered why I had paid so much for this album back in the day.  (and second hand no less)  Obviously it's because Jimi Hendrix produced and played on this record.  I think the sound is very good.  I don't really hear any problems with it.  The vinyl was in pretty good shape.  It should have been, considering the price.

This vinyl was in really good shape.  The music is pretty good.  Some rockin' stuff.  Not a huge fan of the John Lennon cover (Gimme Some Truth) they seemed to have rocked all the tune out of it.

This vinyl cleaned up very, very well.  And the music is not as bad as the cover of this album would make you think.  It's lively and interesting considering that he was Jimmy Durante's partner for decades.  There's also some very nice jazz playing in the interludes.

I got a call one day from a guy I knew at a record store.  He said he just got in some pristine records and I should take a look at them.  This is one of those records.  The trumpet sound is wonderful.  The music is romantic Prima.  Well, well worth the money I paid for it.

The vinyl is in pretty good shape.  I don't really hear anything.  The de-clicker did a fabulous job on this.  I don't really hear any distortion either and this is a very blustery album.  The music is very enjoyable.  No hits here, but good, solid jazz/rock fusion.

The vinyl cleaned up nicely on this.  Quite a bit of clicking but it's all pretty well gone.  This is sort of a novelty piece.  It's Dave Garroway explaining why he and you should like classical music and how much you already know.  The surprising thing for me was how dull he is.  How uninspired his reading of the text is.  He couldn't get a job doing local programming today.

The vinyl sounds great.  This band was recommended to me by Mike Shulga or Star Records in Oshawa about a million years ago.  There's a bit of Johathan Richman and Transistor in this band. Good stuff.

The vinyl sounds really good.  I have another copy of the record but didn't think I needed to digitize it after hearing this one.  The harmonies are nice and the mood is mellow and Hawaiian.

This vinyl was in really good shape.  No complaints.  The music is how you'd expect.  Robert croons his way through the standards.

The vinyl is in great shape.  Not very much to clean up as far as I could hear.  The album is okay.  Not the most creative collection of songs and the fact that there are two covers here makes me believe Mark is not the most prolific of songwriters.

This vinyl could be better.  It did clean up pretty well but the music itself is a little challenging for vinyl.  This isn't my favorite Domenic Troiano record but it still has a lot to recommend it.  I have digitized two copies of this album, so you can pick which songs sound best of which album.

The album cover on this was a little worn so I had serious doubts about the vinyl quality before I took it out of the jacket.  All things considered, I think it sounds pretty damn good.  Perhaps a little something on the orchestra swells but hearing Sophia Loren sing Tu Vuo Fa L'Americano is an absolute treat.

The vinyl is in great shape.  I don't know anything about this band so I stole the info below from All Music Guide

Sometimes you just can't help but wonder why certain bands "make it" while other more talented combos get overlooked and, ultimately, forgotten. And oftentimes, the bands that fade into obscurity created music that stands the test of time decades down the line. Such is the case with British pop quartet the Farmer's Boys. The band (Baz, Stan, Mark, and Frog) was certainly a bright spot on the music scene back in 1983 when it signed with EMI after a handful of indie singles. Their sound was certainly original: imagine Edwyn Collins and his Orange Juice mates jamming with the Human League's keyboardist (complete with programmed drums) and you've got more than a basic idea. Add a little bit of the Smiths and a dab of country & western, and you've got the Farmer's Boys -- and yes, they really did sound that cool. Get Out and Walk was the band's 1983 debut album, and what a debut it was: it had jangly guitars, jolly melodies, catchy synth riffs, acoustic strums, danceable beats, and -- to top it all off -- Baz's Morrissey-like croon floating above it all. The album was fun and extremely infectious, with more cool tunes per minute than 75 percent of the albums that came out that year. For some reason, insanely catchy cuts like "For You," "More Than a Dream," "Matter of Fact," "Wailing Wall," and "Woke Up This Morning" didn't receive massive airplay in the U.K. when they so rightly deserved it. Even the funk-heavy "Soft Drink" (with Baz in falsetto mode) didn't make its way to the dancefloors around Europe like it should have. Yes, the Farmer's Boys did see some chart success, but usually just out of the Top 40, which meant they barely received any much-needed television exposure. Get Out and Walk was one of the coolest records released during the '80s but, for whatever reason, it just didn't click with the band's intended audience. Perhaps it was the Farmer's Boys' lack of image? Maybe because the bandmembers never really took themselves too seriously? Or could it have been just a matter of bad luck? In any case, the album still sounds fabulous today, mainly due to the songs, which will please fans of great '80s guitar pop. Even synth fans can find a lot to love about the Farmer's Boys.

The vinyl here sounds really good.  There's a nice deep quality to Dick's voice and I don't hear any distortion, even with the headphones on.  The music is nice.  About what you'd expect.

The vinyl sounds very good.  I picked this record up in Florida or New Orleans back in the middle 70's.  While I don't like everything on the album, I really became a fan of A Second Hand Viola.  It's  very goofy song but there's something about it that hooked me.

The vinyl is great.  No problems.  The music is so-so.  Bob wasn't the greatest of songwriters.  He does sound somewhat together here though.  Considering his enormous drug problems, that is a surprise.  (Several years earlier he missed a gig at my high school because he got too stoned and went home.) This is recorded live before an invited and enthusiastic crowd.

The vinyl was not very good.  I don't the actual pressing was of any quality, which is a little strange for jazz.   It cleaned up remarkably well but there are a few sonic impurities.  I'm a bit psychotic about sound quality, so it may not bother other people.  The jazz is very enjoyable.  Drum heavy, obviously.

The vinyl is terrific.  Possible tiny moments of imperfection.  I have the main song (which is an absolute classic) posted elsewhere on the site.  But I've finally dug the EP out of my record shelves and I've added the other two songs plus redigitized the A Side.

I'm stunned how well this turned out.  It was on a black Decca Label and still sounds great.  Very little wrong with this and I'm listening on headphones.  Wonderful performance by both Peggy and Ella.  A real aural treat.
